The once-prominent 'Pawan as CM' slogan is fading in Andhra Pradesh politics, as public expectations and leadership narratives evolve. For years, sections of the Kapu community and Pawan Kalyan's supporters actively promoted the idea of him becoming Chief Minister, investing significant effort, resources, and emotion into that aspiration. However, Pawan Kalyan's recent political positioning has raised doubts about that goal. His repeated remarks about remaining in alliance politics for another 15 years have not gone down well with those who hoped for a more assertive leadership role from him. These statements are now being seen as politically damaging. Within the Kapu community, there is growing reluctance to accept the idea of supporting Chandrababu Naidu or his son Nara Lokesh as Chief Minister for the next decade and beyond. As a result, the once-prominent slogan has gradually faded from political discourse. At the same time, a new narrative is emerging in Andhra Pradesh politics, with discussions gaining momentum around the possibility of Kapus, along with Dalits and BCs, collectively seeking political power. This shift reflects a noticeable change in the Kapu community's outlook. While many continue to respect Pawan Kalyan, there is increasing frustration over the perception that he is prioritizing the political interests of Chandrababu Naidu and his successors rather than asserting his own leadership ambitions. Political discussions within these communities now suggest that continued dependence on Pawan Kalyan could limit their chances of producing a Chief Minister, despite their numerical strength. With the belief growing that Pawan himself may not be keen on occupying a decisive leadership position, questions are being raised about the wisdom of continuing to rally behind him. In this backdrop, efforts are reportedly underway to identify alternative leadership while working towards greater unity within the Kapu community. The Ranganadu meeting scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam on the 26th of this month is being viewed as a key development in this direction. Political analysts also point out that enthusiasm among those who once saw Pawan Kalyan as the face of their aspirations is gradually waning, marking a significant shift in Andhra Pradesh's political landscape.
